Rep. Summers's bill to help families afford health care Print E-mail
Tuesday, 20 February 2007

Representative Ken Summers, R-Lakewood, has introduced a bill to make it easy and simple to deduct out-of-pocket health care costs from state income taxes.

Currently, filers need to itemize each expense that they wish to deduct – Republicans propose making it a simple, line-item deduction for out-of-pocket health care expenses. This easy step will help low-income families who can't afford to pay for professional tax filing assistance get the deductions they need to make health care more affordable.
