Bill Cadman sworn in as GOP's newest senator
Tuesday, 11 December 2007

Veteran Republican House member Bill Cadman of Colorado Springs was sworn into the Senate by Chief Justice Mary Mullarkey of the Colorado Supreme Court during a special ceremony at the capitol.

Cadman unanimously won a vacancy committee appointment in November to replace retiring Sen. Ron May, who stepped down to dedicate more time to his computer-consulting business.  May announced his retirement in late October, ending his 27-year public-service career.

Cadman was joined by his wife Lisa and his two sons, Austin and Alex as well as many of his former colleagues in the House of Representatives and members of the Senate.  Staff, journalists, and lobbyists were also on hand to witness the swearing-in ceremony.

"I am thrilled to serve as a senator in the most beautiful state in the country," Cadman said.  "I am honored by the trust placed in me by those who elected me and will work to ensure that Colorado continues to be a place of beauty, prosperity and security for generations to come."
