Roberts Resolution Passes Senate

February 6, 2013

Yesterday, Senator Ellen Roberts’s (R-Durango) resolution, Senate Joint Resolution five, overwhelmingly passed the Senate. This resolution asked that the General Assembly recognize the important role “our water infrastructure plays in Colorado's economic and social well-being when prioritizing its expenditures.”

“Since the recession began, Colorado has transferred almost $450 million of water infrastructure funds to backfill revenue shortfalls elsewhere in the budget,” Roberts said. “It’s time the General Assembly recognize how critical investments in our water infrastructure are to the state’s economy and our farmers and ranchers.”

The resolution specifically mentions that Colorado is heavily dependent upon water infrastructure to move water so it can more effectively serve the needs of “our agricultural, municipal, and industrial water users.” Read the resolution here.
