Renfroe’s Red Light Camera Bill Set for First Hearing Today

January 23, 2013

Today Senator Scott Renfroe, R-Greeley, will discuss his bill to eliminate the use of red light cameras and photo radar on public roadways in Colorado.

“This bill has bipartisan support and it is my hope that my colleagues in the Senate will also see the value of protecting the privacy and pocketbooks of the citizens of Colorado,” said Renfroe.

Senate Bill 35, which will be heard in the State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, at 1:30 PM, would prohibit cities from placing red light cameras at intersections and other roadways.

“According to recent research, intersections that have red light cameras have actually seen an increase in rear end collisions,” said Renfroe. “These cameras are just another way to nickel and dime the people of Colorado.”
