Lundberg’s Open Government Bill to be Heard in Committee

Today, Senator Kevin Lundberg (R-Berthoud) will present Senate Bill 34, which would prohibit state officials from requiring private contractors to submit bids on expensive electronic devices which will then be kept by the state, like iPads, for bids on state contracts.
“The state needs to be above reproach, we need to be sure our state officials to conduct the public business with the utmost accountability and transparency,” said Lundberg. “Requiring small businesses to submit several iPads to do business with the state that will never be returned reduces the public’s trust in government.”
Senator Lundberg introduced the bill when the Denver Business Journal reported that the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing requires companies who were bidding on a contract to submit their proposals on iPads which would not be returned.
