Hill Amendment Passes to Freeze Colorado Energy Office Funding

Today, Senator Owen Hill (R-Colorado Springs) offered an amendment to partially freeze funding for the Colorado Energy Office in response to a blistering audit that was released on Tuesday that showed the office was “unable to demonstrate that $252 million spent over the past six years was spent cost-effectively.” This amendment passed.
“Freezing funding is the least this body can do until the proper internal controls are in place,” Hill said. “It is reckless beyond belief to continue to fund a program with taxpayer dollars when there is no budget, no transparency and an agency that has no internal controls. Any private company would have been forced to shut their doors.”
