Balancing Act: Sen. Kevin Grantham maintains business, legislative commitments

Colorado State Sen. Kevin Grantham has had plenty of time to get his feet wet since he was elected to his post in November 2010. Representing the second district in the Colorado Senate and maintaining his position as an appraiser at Grantham Appraisal Service in Cañon City not only require the understanding and support of his family, it also takes quite a balancing act.

Grantham is in Denver four months out of the year working at the Capitol and he "crams" 12 months of work into the remaining eight months while he is home.

He also must find time to work with constituents and their issues and attend other interim meetings when session is out between May and December.

"Trying to fit everything in the other eight months is real challenging," he said.
